The election is getting really close now and there's a fine line between taking a healthy interest and letting it take over your life. There is so much news and coverage out there that it can be overwhelming. Of course, as important as this election is, I'm here to tell you that it's okay to actively take time out from thinking about it.

Here are a few easy ways to help reduce election anxiety, I hope you find them helpful.

1) Minimize time spent on social media. You may want to stay off of social media completely on Election Day if it is too anxiety-provoking.

2) Plan fun activities with loved ones on Nov 2nd & 3rd to avoid ruminating over election outcomes.

3) On Election Day choose 1-3 specific times in which you will check election results. In between these set times, choose non-political activities with family/friends such as watching a comedy, karaoke, family games, etc.

4) Choose healthy outlets that promote hope and peace such as meditation, chanting, or prayer.

5) Turn off news notifications on your phone to avoid constant updates that can be anxiety-provoking.

6) Don’t feel guilty for doing any of the above. The election is extremely important AND so is your mental health. Know that by voting you have done your part to make a positive change in the world!

I hope this helps, remember of course to vote and take care of yourself and each other.
